Midlands Meander:

Nottingham Road is an important component of the Midlands Meander. This is a popular self-drive arts and craft route that is fun to explore, and allows you to shop for handmade goods from woven rugs, leatherwork and ceramics to wooden furniture.

Buildings

Fort Nottingham

Fort Nottingham was named after Nottinghamshire's Regiment - the 45th 'Sherwood Foresters', who were stationed her in 1856. This fort was originally developed as a garrison post to protect settlers in the foothills of the Drakensberg from Bushman or San cattle raids.

St John's Gowrie Presbyterian Church

This church is one of many iron and wood buildings to be found the Midlands area. These buildings were ordered from a catalogue and shipped out in kit form to southern hemisphere countries, from England,in the 1800's.
